It’s almost the end of the school year, and incoming Grayslake Central freshmen have lots of questions about what high school is like. Eighth graders from Grayslake Middle School submitted their questions about all things high school related to Rampage, and current Grayslake Central students answered.
1. What’s the workload like for freshmen?
A sophomore who preferred to stay anonymous said, “the workload for freshmen is pretty easy. You have to put work in on time. This is because it actually affects your grade and because of that you get taught responsibility.”
2. How do teachers help you adapt to high school?
Lillian, a senior, said, “teachers will help and talk to you about your schedule, classes, and the material the class is going to do.”
3.Will you get marked late if you get to one of your classes late on the first day of school?
No, you will not be marked late. The teachers and staff understand that you are adjusting to a bigger and new space.
4. What’s theater like at GCHS?
It’s a really welcoming environment. Encore is an after school program that helps run all the plays and musicals and One Acts. A freshman, Emily, said, “get involved in any way for theater.”
5. What major change can you expect in classes from 8th to 9th grade?
Senior Daniela Martinez said, “You will have to do a lot of work outside of school and you have to be more responsible.”

![“[I love to photograph volleyball] because I play it myself and I like how fast-paced it is. It’s very action based," said Tanner Hering.](https://rampage.d127.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Screenshot-2026-05-13-212955.png)
