Welcome to Rams Media!

The RAMPAGE newspaper and RamTV broadcasts serve as an educational project for the students of Grayslake Central High School’s journalism and broadcast journalism courses.  As  co-curricular activities, RamsMedia’s basic function is to serve the community by informing, educating and stimulating the exchange of diverse opinions. Students are responsible for the content as well as the design, photos and editorial content of both award-winning publications. The paper and broadcasts will maintain a policy that is fair, accurate and impartial. The paper is both printed and online; the broadcasts are published online.

Additionally, journalism students will have opportunities for field trips through organizations like KEMPA (Kettle Moraine Press Association) and JEA (Journalism Education Association). By attending these conferences, students will see what working as a journalist in the world is like through both hands-on experiences and expert opinions from the field.

If you have any questions or would like to join RamsMedia, please contact the staff adviser: Nina Cavender at ncavender@d127.org. (847) 986-3300

Founded in 1946, Rampage is a student-produced news magazine published by Journalism 1 and 2 students at Grayslake Central High School. The publication has been established as an open public forum for student expression designed to inform the GCHS student body and the greater Grayslake community. All work by Rampage is produced and edited by students. As such, Rampage content will not be reviewed by school officials outside the adviser nor restrained by school officials prior to, during, or after publication or distribution. In 2020, Grayslake Central High School piloted the Broadcast Journalism program, thus RamTV was founded by these students. From here Rampage and RamTV joined together to create RamsMedia, the offical student news site for Grayslake Central High School.

As an open public forum, Rampage welcomes reader comments and debate. Rampage encourages community members to take ownership of their opinions by using their names when commenting. However, in order to ensure a diverse range of opinions, Rampage may allow anonymous comments as long as they are respectful and relevant, as determined by the editorial board. Comments are moderated, but not edited, and will appear only after being approved.

The Rampage editorial board solicits and accepts advertisements of varying sizes for its print issues. Ads are accepted in a variety of electronic formats and as attachments in email in most cases. The editorial board reserves the rights to reject any proposed advertisement for any reason.
