With excitement building around the start of another season, the boy’s wrestling team is about 3 months into their successful season and has already secured some high-level wins. Junior, Anthony Alanis, for example, passed a large milestone in his career, winning 100 matches only as a  junior.

“The most important lesson I have learned is how to never give up. There have been many times in my career where I have gone through hardship and just being mentally tough and not giving up has really helped me throughout my career,” Alanis explained.  This marks just the most recent of Alanis’ accomplishments, seeing how he has qualified for state for three consecutive years, made it to the 2022 finals in the 2A 106lbs division, along with qualifying for multiple national events.

The team is hoping to win regionals, an accomplishment not completed in a long time. With the team’s dedication and hard work, they are expected to go a long way and to not go down without a fight. Head Coach Matt Joseph explained that “A team leader is someone that helps set or meets the expectations by leading by example, cares for every member on the team, is courageous, and consistent.”
