On Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, the school’s Art Club and InkBlots teamed up to host their annual Open Mic Night in the Theater lobby, and it proved to be an incredible event showcasing student talent. From 6 to 9 pm, students and some staff members gathered to enjoy a night full of creativity and good vibes. It was an open event that anyone was welcome to, and it definitely brought out a lot of energy and excitement to those who came.
The atmosphere was super relaxed and cozy. Attendees came to listen to the multitude of performances, sip on some drinks, and enjoy the art on display. There was a wide variety of acts, including singing, poetry readings, comedy routines, and even some band performances. It was inspiring to see how many GCHS students were willing to get up on stage and share their talents with the crowd. Whether you performed or just came to watch, the atmosphere was charged with positive energy. “It was fun! I really enjoyed getting to see my friends sing and play their instruments and hang out doing what I love,” said senior Toby Donovan.
One of the best aspects of the event was it’s unique, laid-back vibe. People could come and go as they pleased, making it easy for students to drop in for a quick performance or stay the whole night. Plus, the event was completely free, no tickets or money required to enter the event. There was also a small table where you could buy food, holiday cards, and “comfort plants” from Ink Blots, the literary magazine club, which added a nice touch of holiday cheer.
The night appeared to be a huge hit, and it really showed off the creative talents of the students. It also brought the school community together to celebrate the arts and support each other. Everyone who performed did an amazing job, and the audience was supportive and enthusiastic throughout the night. Events like these are a great way to unwind before the holiday break and to see first-hand the talents of your friends and classmates.
Overall, 2025’s annual Open Mic Night was a fantastic event organized by Art Club and InkBlots, and everyone who attended left with a smile on their face.
