Every hallway has rows of lockers, but most of them are basically decoration. Most students say they don’t use their lockers because there’s never enough time between classes. Now lockers just sit there, unused, even though they were meant to make school easier. This change makes us wonder if lockers still matter in a fast-paced school day.
Many students also prefer carrying everything in their backpacks because it feels faster and more convenient. With heavy homework loads, sports bags, and personal items, stopping at a locker can feel like an extra step that slows them down.
Some Central students also worry about forgetting things if they leave them in their locker, so they keep everything with them instead. Over time, this habit has made lockers feel useless in everyday school life.

Another surprising issue is that many students have admitted they don’t even know where their lockers are anymore. Since they never stop to use them, the location becomes something they forget or never bother to learn.
Some students said they only saw their locker when they first came to Central and never looked at it again. “I don’t even know where it’s at, I only saw it during freshman orientation,” freshmen student Brianna Miller and sophomore Julianne Neuman said. This shows just how far lockers have slipped out of the student’s daily routines.
“My locker is across the entire school, I wouldn’t make it to class in time,” said 10th grader Maja Vukovic. Time has become a huge topic of discussion with the five minute passing time to get to class. So, with lockers across the entire school students have found them hard to use.
