The seniors on the varsity bowling team look forward to competing with their teammates one last time this season. They believe in their team strongly this year. In their first tournament, they started off slow but then fought back to a third place finish. Bowling is important to GCHS because it’s a no cut sport, meaning that anyone can make the team, and it is about having fun with your friends.
The bowling team is very excited for the new season. After a good first meet they are still trying to find out their identity. The team believes in themselves, and there is also strong interest from the incoming freshmen class.

TJ Rodriguez, a senior on the bowling team said he looks forward to being with his teammates one last time. He said “it’s a lot of fun, especially being with a lot of my friends I have been with since freshman year.” Rodriguez also talked about where he thinks the team stands against other teams. He said, “I honestly believe we have a really good team. We are only struggling with a few things. We are just trying to figure out our team a little bit.” Captain Matthew Heidloff also said, “teams looking pretty good. Our first tournament was this past weekend and we started off kind [of] slow and then we fought back and we ended up pretty good. We got third out of about 25 teams.” Bryan Dovichi, the head coach of the bowling team, reflected on why bowling is important to GCHS. “So years ago, I made it a goal of mine that anyone who wants to be a part of the team is going to be on the team and is going to be on the team. For tryouts I don’t cut anybody because it’s more of an evaluation than a tryout. It’s more about seeing what level students are at,” Dovichi said.
With the team’s expectations, if they go far this year it will make a big impact on the school. They will have made it again, the last time they made it was in the 2023-2024 season. Their most recent meet was on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
