As the 2023 Baseball season gets well underway, senior captains Luke Mudd, Riley Policht, Jack Gerbasi and Chris Rogers are ready to lead their team to success. With 33 games on the schedule, third baseman and catcher Policht focuses on “Conference games.. [and] playing our games on Saturdays. We play big opponents like Warren, Stevenson, Prospect, and Lake Zurich. They’re all competitive teams.”

Policht elaborated on his confidence in the team, explaining that “We’ve got a lot of talent, we’ve got a lot to work on still… But have it there. We’ve all played with each other for probably 10-plus years, so we have the chemistry there,” Mudd said.

Mudd remains “Excited for one of the last weeks of the season, we play Cary Grove, Stevenson and Warren. They all should be pretty good opponents.”

“I feel really confident that we’re all gonna get our stuff together and we’re all gonna start hitting at the right time. Our pitchers are going to start getting people out, throwing strikes. And we’re just going to start winning when it matters and we should hopefully make a deep postseason run,” Mudd said.

“I’m confident I can lead the guys to work hard every single day. Give it all on the field… I just want all the seniors to know that even if some are going to play college, this is the last time you’re going to be wearing the green and white.”

The Rams will go against Cary-Grove on May 11 at home. On May 12, Central will play Stevenson at Rocky Miller Park at Northwestern.
