It’s safe to say that 2020 isn’t exactly the year that any of us were expecting. At the moment, when they keep extending the stay-at-home orders practically every week, it’s easy to fall prey to sadness and depression. However, to take a look at the brighter side of things, all of this time inside is giving people a chance to explore their more creative sides, whether it be through art, clothes, music, or anything else. Some people are upcycling or dying their old clothes, while others complete amazing original pieces out of whatever fabric they can find. One thing’s for sure: We’re going to be coming out of quarantine as stylish as ever.

2020, more than any other year, is a year of self-expression and originality. People are generally becoming more and more accepting of different personal styles and expressions, and many people are taking this time to figure out their own identities. If there was ever a time where it’s trendy to just be yourself, it would be now.

Trends have always been present in our society especially now with the way that social media almost reaches every corner of the Earth. People from all walks of life can come together and bond over their similar choices in style or art, no matter how different their lives may be. The beauty of the fashion world is that anyone can be whoever they want to be, and coming out of this pandemic, it’s likely that people are going to become generally more and more accepting of styles other than their own. This virus, while horribly tragic, has humanized even the most detached of celebrities, and people are starting to empathize more with one another. This already has and likely will continue to change the way that people treat one another, as people are becoming kinder and more accepting of others because we’re all struggling together.

So, 2020 summer fashion trends; what are they? Well, whatever you’d like to wear, and whatever makes you happy. The summer of 2020 will be the summer of happiness and originality-after all, who really wants to spend the duration of COVID-19 trying to be somebody they’re not?
