Look out somethings brewing! There’s a new big kid on the block; Yhana Boba Cafe, cleverly named in the likeness of its owner Anahy (on-a-ee) Hernandez, is the latest addition to Grayslake’s downtown restaurants and hangouts.
A little over a month old, Yhana Boba is already gaining popularity in Grayslake, especially the high school students. Being even closer to Central than The Freeze, Grayslake’s infamous ice cream spot. On top of being close to campus, Yhana is an incredibly inviting place, with an irresistible atmosphere, and a stress-free environment to relax while you wait for and enjoy your delicious boba. You can really feel all the love that went into this sweet business, with the help from her very supportive loved ones, and the touch of an experienced “food smith,” the cafe is truly a wonderful place to be.
If you’d like to pay a visit, the shop is open 10am – 9pm on weekdays, 11pm -10 pm on weekends, and is closed on Tuesdays. But if you’d like something a little more with your next boba tea, Anahy is planning a vintage pop-up on Sunday, Dec. 8th, from 11am to 3 p.m.
Yhana Boba Cafe has opened its doors and offers a refreshing take on the beloved beverage. Tucked in downtown Grayslake on 10 N. Lake State in Suite 104, this charming cafe combines a cozy atmosphere with an impressive selection of drinks, making it a must-visit place for boba enthusiasts and casual cafe enjoyers alike.
When walking into the cafe it has a nice and welcoming interior. The cafe was designed with comfort in mind, along with decorated items from the owner’s Mexican culture. Allowing customers to be intrigued and learn more about the owner’s customs. The cafe creates an inviting atmosphere, perfect for a calming moment to enjoy a nice beverage and talk with friends, or just simply work on important tasks, such as homework.
What truly sets Yhana Boba apart is its menu, which is thoughtfully curated and brimming with options. From classic milk teas to innovative deluxe bobas, there’s something for everyone’s palate. The cafe also offers a unique special item called Toros Locos (which means ‘crazy bulls’ in Spanish), which is another selection of drinks that use the classic energy drink Red Bull. The drinks include amazing new flavors that are infused with multiple spices and fruits.
Our Review:
During our own visits to the cafe, we tried some classic bobas like horchata and taro with popping boba. The Taro, while it’s a classic, was incredibly well done, and I would have again. So far the horchata was the greatest tasting one, mixing the classic Spanish drink with the aspects of boba made it much sweeter and enjoyable. It’s rich and creamy, without being too sweet. Highlighting the quality of the tea used. The tapioca pearls were cooked to a chewy perfection that added a delightful texture to each sip.
Yhana Boba cafe has quickly cemented its place in the local bubble tea scene with its enticing menu, inviting ambiance, and commitment to community engagement. Whether you’re a boba lover or a curious newcomer, this cafe offers an array of delightful drinks and a warm atmosphere that beckons you to return.
