The wrestling season started on Nov. 7, 2022 and the Grayslake Central wrestling team is prepared to go to war. Head Coach, Mathew Joseph, stated he is “excited about this season,” with one graduating senior and nice additions with freshmen coming in this year. The Grayslake wrestling team is a highly skilled team with wrestlers who’s records show that. Returning senior Aaron Cramer, who is currently ranked #1 in Illinois stated he is “ feeling confident going into the season.” The wrestling team took 4th place in the Ted DeRousse invitational as the first tournament of the year. Wrestlers Aaron Cramer, Matty Jens and Gianna Arzer took 1st place. Anthony Alanis took 2nd, Tyler Weidman took 3rd and Carter Vincent and Armando Castaneda finished in 4th.

The wrestling team consistently battles for the NLCC conference title. There is a consistent fight against Grant and Antich highschools in the fight for conference title. Coach Joseph stated, “[Antioch is] the team to beat in our conference… but I think we have a good group that can handle that. And I think we do our part preparing the guys and making sure everyones on weight and healthy to wrestle. I think we got a pretty good shot at competing and beating Antioch.”
