SAGE comforts students
SAGE is a home for people in the LGBTQ+ community at GCHS
December 12, 2019
SAGE is a home for people in the LGBTQ+ community. Well, actually, it is a club here at Grayslake Central, but to members, it truly is like a family. It’s a place where you can just go and relax and not worry about the next day, a place to unwind after a hard day.
In SAGE, sharing and learning about how the LGBTQ+ community has affected the people around, not just where we live, but everywhere, inspires members.
Everybody here starts off as strangers, but every meeting brings people closer until it becomes a friendship. You will
see them in the halls, and you can smile at somebody that you would never have met without spending a few extra hours at school on Mondays in SAGE.
Finding a club that, honestly, cares about your life is one in a million. It’s a stress free place with no drama.
SAGE wants to know about what happens to make you sad or happy. The members are an honest therapy group. They will sit with you and talk to you about anything to make you happy.
Whether it be that you are depressed, or you got in a fight, or you got dumped, SAGE is here for the student body to listen, answer questions, and make you feel supported. The LGBTQ+ community is more than just letters strung together; it’s people who aren’t afraid to be color!
Wear your colors and wear them bright. Don’t have your flags at half mast, hold them high. There is always a place in SAGE.
